Match Report: Ljungskile SK vs. Hammerby (0-1)

After a 0-1 loss to Hammerby due to an own goal, Ljungskile sets aim at their next opponent Kalmar FF. Although the result was not ideal, Ljungskile SK showed well against one of the top teams in the Allsvenskan League staring Charlie Davies. Etchu entered the match in the 81st minute in the striker position. Etchu made a good move when he made a run with the ball on the left wing and almost came through to a finish but the referee blew his whistle because according to the ref Etchu made a rough challenge on a defender as he was entering the penalty area. In their first public match, the Ljungskile SK supporters erupted in dissatisfaction at the ref but the game had closed to the final seconds and the ref ended the game.

During another successful trip for Ljungskile SK, Etchu Tabe ended the trip with 3 goals including Ljungskile’s lone goal against Silkeborg. He also scored in the match up with FC Banants after outrunning the defense and placing the header into the back corner of the net. These goals make Etchu Ljungskile’s leading goal scorer for all of pre-season. With the beginning of the season only a couple days away, his success in the early days of European soccer are sure to foreshadow his future in Europe.

Etchu Tabe is currently taking in the Swedish culture while becoming a dynamic character for Ljungskile SK. With the season starting March 31, Etchu and Ljunkskile are in their final month of practice before the actual copmpetition begins. Etchu’s persistence and teamwork has shown to be important characteristics in the mutual development of both the team and himself. With the way things are looking now, there are high aspirations for the upcoming season.

Etchu Tabe signs 2-Year Contract

MLF Sports announced Friday that Etchu Tabe, a former Baldwin High School student, has signed a two-year contract with Swedish Premiership club Ljungskile SK and is leaving the United States for Sweden.

“The opportunity to play with Ljungskile SK is an honor and I am ready for the challenge,” Tabe said. “I am looking forward to meeting my team mates, starting training and settling in to my new home.”

LjungskileSK was formed in 1926, and the club now competes in the Allsvenskandivision, Sweden’s highest division. After playing their preseason matches, the club’s first regular season match is set for March 31 against Hammarby IF.

Tabe, a 6-foot-4 striker born in Cameroon, moved with his family tothe United States at age 14. After moving from Buea, Cameroon to Milledgville, Tabe attended Baldwin High School, Brewton-Parker College and Georgia Southwestern. The Tabe family is no stranger to the world of professional football/soccer evidenced by the professional career of Etchu’s father in Cameroon.

Heather MacKenzie, of MLF Sports, set up trials in Europe for the gifted forward.

“Etchu has tremendous potential and I am confident of his ability to make an immediate impact for Ljungskile SK,” MacKenzie said.

Ljungskile’s Coach David Wilson, former Manchester United player, was impressed with Tabe’s skills and is ready to have him with the team for preseason training. Tabe is known for his athletic ability, creative style of play and his ability to finish.
